Delores (Soggie) Hopkins, 92 of Devils Lake formerly of rural Oberon, ND passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at her home.
Delores Elaine Soggie was born on July 9, 1929 at rural Maddock ND, one of 8 children born to Harold and Alma (Christianson) Soggie. She attended a rural Oberon school with only 15 pupils. She walked 3 miles everyday to attend the rural school. She worked as a waitress and also helped at the Geske farm for several years. In her younger years, Delores liked rodeos and participated in trick riding.
Delores was united in marriage to Russell Hopkins on November 20, 1954. She was a devoted wife and mother She was an excellent homemaker and baker. She and Russell were blessed with one son Tim. Tim was with her up through the time of her departure to Heaven.
Delores was full of fun and loved to laugh. She had and made many good memories with her family. Her memory was exceptional. She remembered everyone’s birthday, knew how old they were and she could recall certain events and when they occurred with such clarity. She also had a great interest in photography and oh how she loved to sing.
Delores is survived by her husband Russell, son Tim, her sister Burnice Geske Stenberg who passed away on several hours later on April 15, 2022 and many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Alma, sisters Alice Wee and Vivian Streifel, brothers Marvin, Raymond, Billy and Victor Soggie.
