Delores was born January 18th, 1948 in Grafton, ND to Edwin and Leola (Cook) Kemnitz. She attended the Fisher Country School for two years, then enrolled in Cavalier Public Schools, where she graduated in 1966. Delores married Douglas Kemp on May 29th, 1966 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. They welcomed two children, Susann Kemp and Stacey Kemp. Delores worked at the Cavalier Chronicle for 54 years, and enjoyed getting to visit with anyone who came in. There were no strangers for Delores, only friends she hadn’t met yet. Delores loved to go for day trips, spend time with her family, and volunteer for various groups to help her community. Delores volunteered with the Pembina County Fair Board, the Cavalier Motorcycle Ride In, and the Pembina County Historical Society, where she most recently served as board president.
She is survived by her children: Susann Kemp and Stacey (Katie) Kemp, all of Grand Forks; granddaughter Megan Ault, Vermillion, SD; honorary granddaughter BreAnn Kvislen; siblings Gary (Judy) Kemnitz of Cavalier, in-laws Dennis (Judy) Kemp, Park River, Gayle (Don) Geiger, Bonita Springs, FL, Jeff (JoEllen) Kemp, Cavalier, ND, Steve Kemp, IN, and an aunt Lilian Dietrich of Cedarburg, WI.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Doug, and her two brothers Clinton and Maurice Kemnitz.
