Diann M. Anjal was born December 2, 1943 in Whapeton, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Wilma (Poppen) and Donald Woods. She graduated with the last graduating class from Gilby High School. She attended and graduated from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Social Work. Diann was united in marriage to Curtis Bratlie on July 2, 1965 in Forest River, ND. The couple moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where they both attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Diann graduated with her Master’s degree in Social Work. The couple returned to Grafton, North Dakota where she worked as a Social Worker for Walsh County Social Services until the time of her retirement.
She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and WELCA and the Forest River American Legion Auxiliary. She was very involved with many church activities, she loved to crochet, play bingo, visit the lake, travel and was an avid sports fan, especially UND Hockey and Football.
Diann is survived by her children: David Bratlie (Tish Pawlychyn), Winnipeg, MB; Jessica (Mark) Hermanson, Drayton, ND; granddaughters: Madison and Maia Hermanson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Curtis and granddaughter Jessica Pawlychyn.
Memorial services will be Friday, May 27, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Grafton, ND. Friends may call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Kennedy Cemetery, Kennedy, MN.
