Don Shambaugh was born on September 19, 1940, the son of the late Charles and Agnes (Holwell) Shambaugh in Cavalier County, ND. He was raised in Cavalier and attended a one room country school house. As a young man he hauled gravel, before meeting the love of his life, Gladys Johnson. He and Gladys were united in marriage on September 28, 1958. They settled in Grafton and raised two children. Don worked at the Life Skills and Transition Center as a boiler operator for 42 years.
Don loved to travel, hunt, and go to the casino. He loved taking long country drives, especially with his grandchildren, where they both learned to drive at an early age. He will dearly be missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his children: Jodi (Delbert) Lien, Grafton, ND; Dale (Diana) Shambaugh, Hatton, ND; grandchildren: Missy (Ryan) Hildebrandt, Fargo, ND and Brad (Ashley) Shambaugh, Gilby, ND; great grandchildren: Aaron, Blaine, Chase, and Ryder; siblings: Faye (Lester) Williams, Grafton, WI and Charles (Jane) Shambaugh, Fargo, ND, several nieces and nephews also survive. Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings
Graveside services and inurnment will be Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grafton City Cemetery of Grafton, ND.
