Dr. E.J. “Jack” Larson was born October 6, 1929 in Souris, Manitoba to Phyllis and Ed Larson. He made his one last house call on August 26, 2021 when he was called home to the Lord.
As a young man he excelled in academics as well as his love of baseball and hockey. He and his brother Jo spend many an hour on the playing field and hockey rink. After secondary school, Jack was accepted at the University of Manitoba where he continued his education and became a physician.
During his residency he met and married his first wife Patricia. With that union they had two daughters; Tracy and Teri.
He came down from Canada to the United States on Flag Day to accept his position at the Cavalier Clinic where he was a doctor for 54 years. He grew his practice and it became known as “the Little Mayo of the North.” No matter where he was, he always made time with his knowledge, generosity, and kindness for everyone.
His love for travel led him to visit Europe where he took continuing education classes as well as teaching at the University of Vienna. His love for trains was sparked from his dad being a train conductor. He loved how prompt and reliable trains were.
After Patricia passed away, he married Lana Windingland and was happily married for the last 21 years.
He is survived by his second wife Lana; two daughters: Tracy Larson and Teri (Al) Larson-Johnson along with four grandchildren; Carly Jo, Abby, Samuel, and Jack. He is also survived by three step-children: Darin (Tammy) Langerud, Angela (Tom) Thompson, and Ryan Langerud (Jes Berg) and five step-grandchildren: Alexa, Steven, Amanda, Avery, and Emerson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his first wife.
