Earl was born May 17th on a farm in Hosmer, SD to the late Samuel and Claudia Weisz. He grew up and helped with all aspects of running the family farm. Then on January of 1954 Uncle Sam drafted Earl during the Korean Conflict. After an honorable discharge he returned home and met “The Love of his Life”, Marcella Hoffman. They were united in marriage on August 20, 1957 in Leola SD. Earl and Marcella moved to Rapid City,SD where Earl attended the Rapid City School of Business. Their first child was born here. After graduating, Earl moved his family to Ashley,ND where he worked as the business manager for his father (Sam)at Weisz Motor Company. They added three more children to make their family complete. Earl worked for his father for about 7 years and then got an offer to be the parts manager at Bateman Motors in Park River. They moved to Park River in 1966 where they purchased their first house which became their “forever home”. Another company (Heritage Ford) recognized Earl’s talents and made him an offer to become a sales associate. This is where Earl really shined as he won many awards as a top sales associate. His love of people and his gift of being able to talk to anybody made this the perfect job for him. As Earl was never one to sit still, after his “retirement” from Heritage, he took on another job as a bus driver for Park River area high school. He enjoyed this job as he loved being around people of all ages. A perfect way to describe Earl is “he never met a stranger, just a friend he didn’t know”.
In his “spare” time Earl enjoyed being involved in his community. He especially loved the 4th of July and driving his convertibles in the parade with his grandchildren by his side. He was active in The Park River American Legion, the Park River Volunteer Fire Department, Jaycees, and Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Earl also enjoyed fishing, dancing, polka music, golfing and especially spending time with his family.
Earl is survived by his children: Belinda (Jeff Hall)Stratham NH, Brian, Park River, Cheryl(Toby) Welch Park River, Neal (Julia) Weisz, Little Falls MN; six grandchildren, Tyson, Brice, Logan, Whitney, Karli, Austin; three great grandchildren Owen, Karter, Jack; brother Stan, sister Priscilla.
