Elizabeth Verspeek (nee Koldyk) devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother passed away peacefully on August 9, 2021 at the age of 94.
Left to mourn her loss are her daughters Linda Kitz (Lloyd) and Lois Morin (Oliver) and daughter-in-law Rhondda Verspeek; her grandchildren Sheldon Verspeek (Jody), Kelly Verspeek (Katrina), Tanya Dusessoy (Jeff), Kurtis Morin (Zelia), Troy Morin (Shannon), Stacy Kitz (Clint Wong); great grandchildren Kelsey, Shelby, Chase, Joshua, Zachary, Gabrielle, Grayson, Sienna, Hayden, Avah, Xavier, Carson, Carter, Delaney, Hannah and great great grandchild Henry. Also remaining to cherish her memory is her brother Henry Koldyk (Kay), sisters-in-law Lily Koldyk, Betty Koldyk, Irene Koldyk and brother-in-law Ed Steinke.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband John (1999), her son Rick (2014) her brothers Sybren, Jim, Clarence, and Joe Koldyk, and her parents Rintje and Betje Koldyk.
Elizabeth was born on August 12, 1926 in Weidom, Friesland (Netherlands) to Rintje and Betje Koldyk. In 1928, Elizabeth immigrated to Canada with her parents and brother Sybren.
Elizabeth found pleasure in spending time tending to her flowers and vegetable gardens, baking, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. One of her favorite events was preparing for and entering her baking and sewing at local fairs. She won many first prize red ribbons for her bread and buns!
Her daughters would like to thank everyone for their support and well wishes. A special thank you to the staff at Boyne Lodge for the care and support of mom. In accordance with Elizabeth’s wishes, there will be no service.
Memorial donations may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to a charity of choice.
