Mom was predeceased by her husband, Jake, her parents, as well as, 7 sisters and 4 brothers, also several brothers and sisters-in-law. Mom was born May 4, 1934, in Chortitz, MB and was the youngest of 14 children, born to John and Maria Thiessen. She lived her childhood years in Chortitz. Mom had a strong work ethic. She was best known for her job at the Winkler Co-op cafeteria which she managed for almost 25 years. People still talk about her great Somma Borsht. Some of mom’s favorite things were family – having her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren over, as well as family BBQ’s, sitting around a long table in her garage; generosity – it gave her joy to help others, whether it was baking or driving people to appointments; gardening – she enjoyed her flower garden; humour – she enjoyed telling jokes and even entertaining others with her stories or sayings; her faith - Bible memory, and prayer. Till her death she could recite many Bible verses for memory and prayed daily for her family. The family would like to thank the staff of Salem Home in Winkler for their great care of mom.
A private family funeral will be held.
