Frank was born on February 28, 1939 in Albion, Michigan to the late Harold and Theresa (Lockwood) Henley. Frank was raised and attended school in Concord, MI. He graduated from Concord High School in 1957. Frank attended Michigan State University after graduation. He worked for Jackson Citizen Patriot. Frank began selling insurance in Jackson, MI. He married Joyce Moseman in 1961. They adopted two boys Kevin and Brian. Frank moved to North Dakota in the 1970s. He lived in Minot and Fargo before moving to Park River. He worked for Northwestern National, Nodak Mutual, Ron Capp and First United Insurance, so he was in Insurance over 60 years of his life.
Frank met Joleen Swartz in 1990 and their adventure together began. They both loved horses and traveled around the nation showing them. Together they went on trail rides, horse shows, and wagon trains. Frank loved to hunt and was a bird hunting guide, out in Western North Dakota. He had a hunting camp in Westhope where his friends from Michigan and Wisconsin would join him. The Camps’ name was TGIO( Thank God Its October). Frank, Joleen and the horse’s adventures in Deer hunting helping hunters achieve the most memorable experience. Frank served as President and Cook of the Walsh County Saddle Club, member of the American Legion, a Park River hockey coach, night clerk and cook at the Alexander House, combine operator for Charlie Schmaltz Custom Combining and helped many local friends and farmers with their harvest. His best friend, Jeff Flaten always there with a helpful hand. Frank was blessed with a great life.
Frank is survived by his partner of 33 years, Joleen Swartz; children: Kevin (Casey) Henley and their children: John, Samantha, and Andrew, Okemos, MI; Brian Henley, Kalkaska, MI; step-children: Heather Swartz and son, Leif and Austin (Alicia) Swartz and their children; Caleb, Gentri, Breck, and Brewer; siblings: Janet (Bob) Raymond, Concord, MI and Susan Jones, Albion, MI; nephews: Ron Raymond and Kip Jones; and niece Kellie Hoch, as well as many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Jerry Jones, and niece Holly Raymond.
A Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at the Alexander House in Park River, ND
