Genevieve Brichnac was born February 23, 1930 in Perth Township, ND, the daughter of the late James and Frances (Bina) Brichnac. She attended grade school at the Sauter Township School and later graduated from Michigan High School in 1947. She later graduated from Aakers Business College in 1950. She worked as a secretary in Grand Forks for short time before being united in marriage to Raymond Beck on November 26, 1951 at the Sarnia United Lutheran Church in Whitman, ND. The couple lived in Oceanside, CA while Ray was in the military before returning to the Michigan area where the couple lived and farmed for 40 years. After the passing of her husband, Gen moved to Park River to be near her brother and mother. Gen lived in Park River for over 20 years until she needed move supervised care, due to her health condition. She then moved to the Osnabrock Community Living Center and eventually to the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton until her passing.
She was a former member of the Sarnia United Lutheran Church. She sang in the Czech choir, enjoyed embroidery, gardening, canning, travelling with her friends and helping her children and grandchildren whenever they needed. She was well known for her cooking and baking, especially her homemade buns.
She is survived by her children: Dwight Beck, Michigan, ND, Bryan (Denise) Beck, Libby, MT, Ramona (Clint) Sticha, Lankin, ND, grandchildren: Joseph Beck, Libby, MT, Andrew Beck, Bozeman, MT and Devin Sticha, Lankin, ND, great granddaughter Hazel Sticha, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, and brother James (Sylvia) Brichnac.
A memorial service will be Friday, December 10, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the East Sarnia Cemetery near Whitman, ND in the spring.
