She was born January 30, 1934 to Arne and Gertrude Gregor. Her family knew her as Honey since she carried her mother's name. She graduated from Leeds High School May 24, 1951. She attended Concordia College, Moorhead Mn., she was a member of the band and followed her passion for music.
Gertrude worked in banking for a large portion of her life. Working in Enumclaw, Washington prior to coming home to work in her family bank in Leeds ND. She was Vice President and Director at Farmers State Bank of Leeds, until the family sold the bank. She worked for a time for Larson Implement in Leeds. She then went to work for Brekke accounting in Devils Lake. The Banking industry was a calling, as she returned to banking, taking a position with Bremer Bank in Minnewaukan.
Gertrude met Larry in late 1967. They quickly became an item, getting married June 26th, 1968. They celebrated 51 years of marriage prior to Larry’s death in November, 2019. Upon marrying, not only was she a wife but instantly added the role of “Mom” to Larry’s two sons, Greg and
Steve. A role that seemed to come very naturally to her. Throughout their life together Gertrude and Larry resided in Brinsmade, Minnewaukan, Bottineau, Rolette and Gardner, Ks prior to coming to Devils Lake, where she resided for the last 8 years. Spending the last 5 years at
Eventide.
Gertrude and Larry enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family. As most that became close to her quickly fit into that “family” category. All who knew her can attest to her love of family and friendship and laughter. She loved to play cards with family and friends, as well as
hosting people at her home over the years.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry M. Berg. Her parents Arne/Gertrude Gregor and siblings Boyd Gregor, Curtis Gregor, John Gregor and Artis Gregor Lee.
Gertrude is survived by one sister, Kathryn Christian. two sons Gregory/Jan(Conway)Berg of Olathe, Ks and Steven/Yvette(Hennings)Berg of Chino Hills, Ca. two grandchildren Derek/Monica(Rucker) Berg Prairie Village Ks and Kristen Berg Olathe Ks. and three great grandchildren- Ashton Gohman Amarillo, Tx, Annika Berg and Asher Berg Prairie Village.
Funeral Services on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Reverend Jim Paulson officiating. Gertrude will be laid to rest beside her husband Larry at the Leeds Cemetery.
Casket Bearers will be Bob Anderson, Dwight O'Connell, Garry Thompson, Derek Berg, Steve Berg and Greg Berg.
