Gordon Dale Askew was born January 11, 1934, to Leslie and Edna (Horsley) Askew at Neche, ND. He attended grade school at East Leroy and graduated from Cavalier High School, where he participated in football and track. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954, serving two years.
He was employed by Nodak Rural Electric for thirty-six years as a lineman and later became foreman for the Cavalier and Edinburg crews. Upon retiring from Nodak, he started a hobby of making projects out of stained glass which he especially enjoyed. He was very fond of his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events. Gordon liked to tease and had a quick wit. He was a member of the United Lutheran Church, where he formerly served on the church council.
On September 6, 1959, Gordon and Norma Jean Claughton were married at Mountain, ND. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean, son, Tom Askew (Kristy Voecks), grandchildren: Patrick (Sadie) Askew, Anthony (Alyssa) Askew, and Nicole Askew. Also survived by his great-grandchildren: Niam, Vaya, and Acen Askew, Parker and Eli Askew, sister, Grace Robbie.
Preceding him in death were his parents, siblings: Melvin, Russell, and Adrian Askew, Doreen Bahr, and Ivadele Rogers.
