With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Gwendolyn Paula Learmond, a beloved mother, wife, and cherished friend, who departed from this world on January 25th, 2024.
Paula is predeceased by her father, George Raymond Biggs (1991); her mother, Floria Pauline Beach-Biggs (2022); and her sister, Oralyn MacLowich (2023) and is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Learmond, sister Marlene Lisk (Blayne) and brother Gregg Biggs (Shelley). Also left to mourn are her two children, January (Trip) and Chad (RaeAnn) and her three grandchildren, Carson, Josh, and Eva.
Paula met Bill in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, in 1971. They were married in 1972 and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage! After 39 years of raising their children and supporting Bill’s flying career in the Canadian Armed Forces, Paula flourished when they moved into their beautiful retirement home in Carman, Manitoba. She was deeply involved with the Carman Garden Club and Carman/Dufferin Communities in Bloom organizations, where she developed many friendships with colleagues and community volunteers.
Paula was a loving mother and grandma who passed her many gifts to her children and grandchildren, especially her love of music, cooking, baking and playing cards. She was an incredible hostess and was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends.
Paula was passionate about horticulture, especially home and community gardens, flowers, and succulents. The family would appreciate donations (instead of flowers) being sent to:
