We are honoring our beautiful, fun, kind, loved and spiritual Helen Janzen (nee Enns) who passed away at the age of 75. While she will be missed by many, we are thankful that she is again in the arms of her beloved husband, who died in 2023. On Monday April 8, 2024, Helen passed peacefully at Boundary Trails Health Center to be with the Lord.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Connie, Valerie and Mike, Julie and Chris, Andrew and Lucy, her six grandchildren, Hannah, Liam, Kairi, Bree, Mason, Abigail and her sister, Martha (Abe), sister-in-law’s Martha (Pete), Mary and Diane along with many extended relatives and dear friends.
Helen was predeceased by her loving husband Pete, parents Aaron and Maria Enns and her brother Aaron, sisters Katherine (Teen), Nettie and Mary and brother John.
Helen was born April 9, 1948 at the Winkler Bethel Hospital to Aaron and Maria Enns. Helen was the youngest in her family of seven children. She grew up on the family farm in southern Manitoba and attended school in Schanzenfeld, Manitoba. Helen had many different jobs over the years including Old Dutch chip factory, sewing factory, Supervisor at Tupperware, Coop gas bar and the Winkler school and daycare.
On August 6, 1967, Helen married her first love, Pete Janzen, at the age of 19. They started their lives together in the home they purchased on 5th street in Winkler. Five years into their marriage they moved to 9th Street in Winkler where they called home for over 50 years. Helen and Pete were blessed with four wonderful children: Connie, Valerie, Julie and Andrew.
Helen is known for her kind heart and perseverance. She faced several life-threatening health challenges over the last 20 years but battled each of them fiercely and came out stronger every time. She was a fighter.
Helen’s faith in the Lord and her church family at Christian Faith Church was an important part of her life. We would like to thank her church for always being a huge part of her life. We appreciate all the compassion they gave us during her final days.
Helen enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling, anything Disney, going to restaurants, cooking/baking, playing games on her iPad and helping out at Andrew and Lucy’s greenhouse. Helen’s dedication to her family was unmatched. Spending time with her kids and grandkids always came first. Helen was so very proud of all her kids and grandkids.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, her church congregation and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Helen’s love and kindness touched the lives of many people, leaving a mark on the hearts of those she leaves behind.
The family would like to thank the staff at Boundary Trails for the love and compassion they showed mom and our family during this difficult time.
Donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Building Fund at Christian Faith Church.
