Henry Berg
1939 ~ 2021
Henry H Berg was born in Nikolaifeld Russia on August 26, 1939 to Henry and Agatha Berg. Henry’s family was very unsettled as they often moved to avoid being in the middle of war. After several years and many moves, they were able to immigrate to Canada in 1948 with Rosemary Alberta being their final destination. The family was able to start a farm in the Gem area. Henry gave his life to the Lord at a young age. Henry valued education as he completed his grade school and attended bible school. Shortly after this he met the love of his life Katie Regier in 1962 and proposed marriage after 10 months and they were married July 13th, 1963. Two days after their 1st year wedding anniversary their first son, Anthony David was born July 15th, 1964. Henry continued with his education during this time to complete his Alberta Teaching Certificate in December of 1965. Shortly after this their second son, Chad Henry was born December 27th, 1965. Henry began his teaching career in various small communities in Alberta settling in Vauxhall. Their third son, Samuel Glen was born June 14th, 1969. In 1976 the family moved to Winkler, where Henry taught industrial arts courses at Garden Valley Collegiate. Henry with family joined the Winkler MB Church where he served in various roles as he felt called. He retired after 1990 and took on various other jobs including Winkler Bible Institute, Kroeker Farms, and most recently, his volunteer work at the Winkler MCC Store. For the last number of years Henry struggled with a heart condition among other organ issues. On Friday December 10th he was admitted to Boundary Trails Health Centre after having unidentified internal bleeding. In the early hours of Wednesday December 22nd his Christmas wish was granted and the Lord took him home to be with Him.
Henry was predeceased by his brother, Willie, son, Anthony, brother, John, father, John, mother, Agatha and wife, Katie. Henry is survived by son, Chad and wife, Agatha, Allison and Randy Wiebe, Kristie and Henry Guenther, Jasmine, son, Sam and wife, Trish, Janessa and Alexander Peters, Dana, and Robyn. Henry was also blessed to meet his great granddaughter, Paisley Wiebe. Henry will always be remembered by his selfless generosity to others and by his response when asked how he was doing, “Thankful & Blessed” no matter what his situation that day.
