June 11, 1938 ~ February 5, 2021
Henry Abram Wiebe passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 5, 2021 at the Carman Memorial Hospital. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Eleanor and his three children Karin Rempel (Barry), Myrna Goerzen (Mark, Landon, Connor and Kaitlyn), and Leonard (Lori, Brendan and Craig).
Henry was predeceased by his daughter Barbra Lynn, parents Cornelius and Katie, brother George and sister Katherine.
Dad was born in Winnipeg Manitoba to Cornelius and Katie (Rempel) Wiebe and grew up on the farm just outside of Carman. He attended Forest School until Grade 8.
Henry married Eleanor Hiebert on November 3, 1962. He farmed together with his father and brother for a number of years and then on his own.
Henry accepted Christ as his Saviour at the age of 16 and was baptized into the Elm Creek Mennonite Brethren Church. He was involved with church. Henry taught Sunday School, was a youth leader for a couple of years, and led the church choir for 13 years.
Henry had a love for music. He always enjoyed going to listen to different groups and singing in groups. He was also involved in singing with the Hutterite colony for 16 years.
When the economic downturn hit in the 1980’s, he made the difficult decision to give up farming. He took up carpentry work and working in his welding shop. During this time, Henry went to work part-time for Walinga in Carman. He drove truck for them and delivered machinery for a number of years.
In 2009, Henry and Eleanor moved to Carman and Henry would still go to the farm to work in his wood shop. He was an amazing carpenter! He was also diagnosed with cancer that same year. He spent countless hours in his back room painting and building small scale replicas of farm equipment.
Family was very important to Henry. He loved each child and grandchild and prayed specifically for each one every day. Henry will be sadly missed by his family and friends. We rejoice that he is safe in the arms of his Heavenly Father!
