She is survived by her sister Jeannine Touzin, her brother-in-law Edmond Picton, 16 nephews, 9 nieces, and 56 grand nieces and nephews, 67 great grand nieces and nephews and 5 great great grand nieces and nephews.
Irène was predeceased by her parents Maurice and Esther Massinon; brother Victor Massinon; sisters Antonia Gagné and Gilberte Picton; sister-in-law Marie-Ange Massinon; brothers-in-law Joseph Gautron, Benoit Gagné, Roger Touzin and nephew Henri Picton.
Irène was born on June 29, 1930 in Aubigny. In 1946 the family moved to Haywood. Irène left Haywood in 1955 and moved to Winnipeg. She worked at the Co-op in St .Norbert until 1958 when she started working at the General Post Office in Winnipeg. She retired from the post office in 1987 and resided in Winnipeg until the fall of 2016 when she moved to Carman.
Irène was an avid reader. She loved crossword puzzles, a good game of cards, scrabble, bingo and playing the piano. She provided many years of the gift of music to the church and community events even playing the piano at the Boyne Lodge where she now resided. She enjoyed her many years volunteering for the Liberal Party of Manitoba.
Irène also loved travelling, having been to places such as Australia, Thailand, Costa Rica, France and Italy and numerous trips to BC to visit family.
The family would like to thank the Boyne Lodge staff for their care, patience and compassion and the staff and doctors at Boundary Trails Hospital for their end-of-life care of Irène.
The funeral will be held at the Saint-Denis Roman Catholic Church in Haywood on Tuesday September 6th at 11:00 a.m. followed by the interment in the church cemetery.
