Irene Patricia Ruhl (Pat)
Pat was born April 5th 1933 in Liverpool, England to Irene Daisy (Davies) Beswick and Harry Beswick. She passed from this life, December 7th, 2023 into God’s Kingdom to be welcomed by her loving family members who proceeded her.
Pat grew up in Liverpool, England during WWII. She would tell stories of how they would have to run to the bomb shelter when the sirens sounded. As a young child, Pat would stand in line to get bread for her mother as it was rationed during the war. The children would kick a ball around in the back yard for entertainment and no one was better than anyone else. Occasionally she would ride the Trolly to get to places. When she was a little older, she started working in a garment factory in Liverpool and would walk to work with her father as he worked at the docks. She would say, in her English accent, “We always had to look perfect when we went to work and could never be
late.”
Pat left England for a new adventure in the United States. She ended up in Fergus Falls, MN. She worked for the Woolworths store where she met and married Wayne Ruhl om March 28th, 1958. She also lived in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Davenport, Iowa, Montevideo, MN, and Devils Lake, ND where they raised their three children, Susan, Gary and Lorene.
She enjoyed her life in Devils Lake working on different projects with her friend Keta. She also enjoyed her many friends, campfires and cooking fish at their Lake place and making sure Gary got to Hockey practice. After 17 years in Devils Lake, ND they moved to Rochester, MN in 1979 where they resided until ill health became a factor. They would continue to return to their lake place in Devils Lake in the summer and fall. In Rochester Pat would help her husband at times in the store and babysit during the day.
Pat loved Christmas time where she and a friend would decorate one of many rooms at the Mayo Manor in Rochester so people could tour it. At home she would put up all of her Santa’s, and fill the house with garland and Christmas ornaments and then enjoying sitting by the blazing fireplace with a cup of tea.
Pat and Wayne moved to Twin Town Villa in Breckenridge MN in 2019 and a short time later she moved to CHI St Francis LTC Nursing Home where she received loving care until her death.
