Isaak Letkeman passed away peacefully on December 15, 2021 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Eva (nee Martens) of 48 years, daughter Eva, sons Isaac, Will (Tamara), and Pete (Tanya) and grandchildren Ethan, Dawson, Asher and Hailey. He is predeceased by his father in 2000 and mother in 2019.
Isaak was born to Wilhelm and Helena Letkeman on October 12, 1953 in Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was the oldest of six children. He grew up on the family farm and spent his young adult years farming. In 1973 he married Eva. They continued to farm in Mexico until they moved their family to Canada in 1984. Isaak made a career out of welding in the Winkler area and continued to work until his health no longer allowed him to.
Isaak had a love for fishing and spending time at the lake. Many summer family fishing trips were made. Over the past several years Isaak and Eva spent many evenings dancing with friends. He was a social person and loved having a cup of coffee with friends. His grandchildren brought a new joy to Isaak’s life. He enjoyed spending time with them, watching their sports games, fishing with them and family dinners together.
Isaak’s cancer diagnosis was made four years ago. He fought hard and continued to work throughout his treatments until his body wouldn’t let him. His fight gave him four years that his family will not forget. He appreciated each and every one of those days without complaint.
His family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Cancer Care and Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care for their care and support.
