Jake Klassen
1953 ~ 2022
Our Heavenly Father called our Dad, Jacob Klassen home on the morning of Monday March 21, 2022.
Dad was born March 3, 1953 to Heinrich and Helena Klassen in Mexico, the second youngest of eleven children. He had six sisters and four brothers. Upon the confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, he was baptized on May 21, 1973 by Bishop Heinrich Dyck and became a member of the Old Colony Church in Durango, Mexico. On July 2, 1973, he married Elisabeth Unger and they had four children. In 1984, they decided to move to Canada in search of a better life. Dad lost the use of his arm in a farming accident at the age of 14, so finding work wasn’t easy for him. But he did many odd jobs and drove people back and forth from Canada to Mexico to provide for his family and later on worked for many years as a security office for TRC and the pipeline. Mom and dad were married for 45 years before mom passed away almost three years ago. Dad missed her dearly and often spoke of her and recalled many memories of her. We recall many memories with our parents like going to the park on Sunday afternoon when we were young and going for walks and bike rides with dad when we were teenagers.
He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his four children: Henry (Susie) Klassen, Jake (Susan) Klassen, Trudy (Henry) Funk, Lena (Abe) Funk, 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Elisabeth (2019), his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
We sorrow but not as such who have no hope, but we believe that he through God’s grace and mercy will have received that eternal home prepared for all believers.
Thank you to all who have prayed for us and to dad’s friends who were always there for him. Special thanks to Wiebe Funeral Home, the church ministerial and serving group and friends and family who have compassionately helped us through this time. God bless you all. The Family
