Jacqueline Helen Enns (nee Root)
1971 ~ 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Enns (nee Root) on September 8, 2023.
Jacqueline was born to Karen Roberta Root on June 25 1971 in Oshawa Ontario. She grew up on a farm outside of Port Hope Ontario, and then to Fruitvale British Columbia. The family then moved to Winnipeg when she graduated from Vincent Massey High School in 1989, the same year she won the bronze medal in rowing during the Canda Games. After being offered a spot on the Olympic rowing team she chose rather to pursue Veterinary School. She moved to Guelph after high school and in 1993 started a summer internship at the Morden Veterinary Clinic. This is where she met her husband, Doug Enns, at a call on his family farm to look at his dairy cows. The next 2 summers were spent with many evening jeep rides, and the duo got married December 17th 1994. They moved to Guelph together for her final semester of University, and after graduating in the Spring of 1995, they moved to Schanzenfeld on the farm and started full time at the Morden Veterinary Clinic. She raised her 3 children, Ruth Franklin and Peter, while being a veterinarian managing the herd health at the farm, and still managed to get her family ready for church on Sunday morning where she was baptized on the confession of her faith. Upon selling the dairy quota, Jacqueline loved milking and agriculture so she kept one cow, Molly, to milk every day by hand before work and supply milk for 10 families.
In 2003 she started the Winkler Veterinary Clinic where she was able to start a small animal practice and involve her children in the day to day tasks of caring for animals. As her kids grew, she quickly picked hobbies up as the family matured and got older. Jacqueline showed horses, travelled, got her motorcycle license and biked with Doug, and loved to snowmobile, boat, and kayak. She loved early mornings at the lake to be close to God, listening to music and worshipping.
During her battle with cancer, she told her family she would fight it for them but would prefer to go home. Jacqueline was a very special person who touched the lives of many people in the community and beyond. Donations can be made to Children of Hope.
