Jeanette was a world traveler and visited Europe, Hawaii, Peru and much of the United States. Attended many American Indian College Fund conferences. Jeanette met sitting presidents Reagan, Bush and Clinton in the Oval office for official business. She met Obama while he campaigned for office.
Jeanette cared for and raised 7 children whom she was very proud of. Jeanette also cared for her siblings and other family members throughout her lifetime. She was a driven and helpful woman for her community and loved ones.
Jeanette loved BINGO and referred to herself as the “Bingo Queen”. Danielle Steel was her favorite author and Jeanette read all of her books. Jeanette’s talent for making pillows and earrings eventually led to her starting her own business. Her love of jewelry, accessories and flair for fashion, gave her the ability to always pull together the perfect outfit.
Jeanette’s precious and loving family include her children Janel Herald, Denise (Gary) Jacques, Jarrett (Jamie) Smith, Lorinda (Brett) Leben, Cali DeMarce and hunka son Brian Thunder Hawk; grandchildren Darren Wott Jr., Gabrielle Wott, Kendra Dale, Alan Dale, Caden Kakegamic, LaTasha Cookson, LaTisha Longie, Crystal Christofferson, Yolonda Weber, Rolynda Herald, Jarrett Smith Jr., Jarris Smith, Jarrin Smith, Anthony DeMarce, Avery Smith, Gabriel Sherman, Victoria Wolters, Tyler Wolters, Sophia Hassett, Brynn Leben, Joseph Jackson Jr. and other beloved grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; sister and brothers Ronda (Rodney Sr.) McKay, Donovan Kahnapace, Virgil Herald, Vincent Herald, Willis Herald, Delbert Herald and James Thompson Jr.; many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.

Casket Bearers will be Jeanette’s grandsons Darren Wott Jr., Alan Dale, Caden Kakegamic, Chad Poitra Jr., Jarrett Smith Jr., Jarrin Smith, Jarris Smith, Anthony DeMarce, Avery Smith, Gabriel Smith, Tyler Wolters and Joseph Jackson Jr.
Honorary Bearers will be Lisa Greywater and family, Bessie IronHawk and family, Wicahpi Cavanaugh, Dr. Cynthia Lindquist and family, Helena Littleghost and family, the Blueshield family, Jumbo and Mary Thompson family, Lois Leben and family, Francine DeMarce and Dr. Russ McDonald, Lili Owlboy, Eric Dubois, Skip Longie and family, Renita Delorme and family, Michelle Christofferson and family, the dedicated Altru Medical Staff who worked so hard to keep her with us.
There will be a walk-through visitation for Jeanette at the Tekawitha Center, St. Michael ND on Friday, January 15th from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Reverend Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass. Jeanette will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their thankfulness to all those who knew and loved Jeanette and because of the COVID pandemic they especially want everyone to be safe. Masks and social distancing will be required and as they keep you in their prayers, please keep them in your hearts and prayers spiritually as we must avoid physical touch and hugging. We want everyone to be safe.
