Joan was born on September 26, 1948, in Grafton, ND, the daughter of Henry and Stephie (Helmowski) Wosick. She grew up and attended school in Grafton, class of 1966.
After graduation, Joan attended Aaker's Business College. Upon graduation, she moved to Boston, MA to work for Boston Logan International Airport completing airline teletype system. Joan returned to Grafton, meeting her husband of 50 years, Louis (Louie) Johnson Jr. They married in Aberdeen, SD on April 20th 1973. Joan and Louie made their home in Grafton, ND. She began to work for Senator Harvey Tallackson and later worked for the Grafton Record and the Developmental Center, retiring in 2018.
She is survived by her husband Louie; daughter Natalie (Ronnie) Slominski of Manvel, ND; stepchildren, Tammy (Daniel) Schaf of Casselton, ND and Terry Johnson of Grafton, ND; sister, Cheryl Kraft of Grafton, ND; grandchildren; Ryan Schaf, Blake (Kelsey) Schaf, Andrew Johnson, Autumn (Zachary) Bowers, Devin Slominski and Lani Slominski; great-grandchildren; Kayden, Karlene, Axel, Ace, Jhett and Alaska. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: James Wosick, Kenneth Wosick; and sisters: Diann Suda, Sharon Wosick.
During her final days she was cared for by Traci Burns, Unity Hospital, Grafton, ND, Park River Good Samaritan Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Family will receive friends and family on Thursday December 7, 2023, at 10 am for Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
