John was born and raised on a dairy farm near Ballymena, Northern Ireland along with his two sisters, Betty and Rosemary. At the age of 14 their father died and John had to leave school to help his mother on the farm. December 1959 John married Annabel Woodrow, who would be by his side for the next 60 years. In 1974 the family moved to a farm in Scotland. Then in 2003 John and his wife Anna , son Desmond and family emigrated to Manitoba. This was a completely different way of life and he enjoyed grain farming on the Prairies. He will be greatly missed by all the family in Scotland, Northern Ireland and here in Canada.
The family sincerely thanks Dr Clayden and all the staff at Carman Memorial Hospital for the excellent care given to John.
