John E. Janda was born October 22, 1930 on the family farm near Veseleyville, ND, the son of the late George and Emma (Dvorak) Janda. He attended rural country school, which was 1 ½ miles from the farm. John, along with his family, also spent winter months in Medford, Wisconsin, where they had a farm and visited family and friends. John started farming near Veseleyville at a young age with his mother. John was united in marriage to Irene Suda on October 6, 1959 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Veseleyville, ND. They continued to farm for many years.
John was a lifetime member of the St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Veseleyville, ND and the Knights of Columbus. He passionately enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and dancing. He enjoyed the Czech heritage. He served on the Walsh Water, American Crystal and township boards.
John is survived by his wife, Irene Janda, Veseleyville, ND; three daughters and their families: Jacqueline (Andrew) Korczak, Drayton, ND; Catherine (Mark) Enstad, Barnesville, MN; Loretta (Glen) Grad, Hatton, ND; eleven grandchildren: Jeremy (Kayla) Korczak, Josh Korczak, Andrea (Andy) Adrian, Christian Enstad, Leif Enstad, Emily Enstad, Donny Grad, Samantha (Brett) Kvam, Jarae Grad, Evelyn Grad and Loren Grad; six great grandchildren: Aaron, Jacob and Alexander Korczak, Adley, Ariana and Axton Adrian. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and brothers-in-law: Georgia and Vendelyn Burianek and Agnes and Charles Odstrcil.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Veseleyville, ND. Visitation will be on Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery, Veseleyville, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery.
