Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday September 30, 2023 at the Reinland Mennonite Church, Winkler with interment to follow at the Church Cemetery, Schanzenfeld. Viewing will be from 1PM-6:30PM on Friday at Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler and at the church prior to the service. Donations may be made in John's memory to the Reinland Mennonite Church Building Fund.
John Nickel
1941 ~ 2023
On Friday September 22, 2023 at the Red River Valley Lodge in Morris, MB, John T Nickel passed away.
John was born at the Bethel Hospital in Winkler on September 5, 1941 to John H and Aganetha (nee Thiessen) Nickel. He married Gertrude Bueckert on July 14, 1963 and together they had nine children.
He is survived by his children and their families: Annie Nickel, Mary (Henry) Reimer, Kathy Rempel, Helen (Roger) Neufeld, George (Patti) Nickel, David Nickel, William (Diane) Nickel and Bernie Nickel, ten grandchildren: Nici Neufeld, Micheal (Kristen) Neufeld, Rebecca (Jake) Harder, Rose Rempel (Herman), Sharon Rempel, Caitlyn (Vova) Shevchenko, Joshua (Nicole) Nickel, Daniel John Nickel, Caleb Nickel and Dylan Nickel and seven great grandchildren: Elijah Harder, Destiny Harder, Nathaniel Harder, Sebastian Harder, Isaiah Harder, Jasmyne Harder and Isabelle Hund. He was predeceased by Gertrude in 2002, a son, Abram in infancy, grandson, Joseph and son-in-law, Ken Rempel.
