Jon Gary Johnson was born at Towner County Memorial Hospital on September 9, 1975 to Gary D & Sharon L Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He attended Cando Public School & received his GED at Williston ND. Jon played hockey with the Cando Odnacs, the Williston Coyotes, and continued playing Tier II Junior hockey with the Bismarck Bobcats, he remained an avid hockey fan throughout his life. On April 21, 2018, Jon was united in marriage to Jennifer Miner and they made their home in Grand Forks, ND where together, they raised their daughter Mikaela. Jon worked various jobs, including long haul trucking, which allowed him to visit many states & historic sites, he also loved to read & was a history buff. Jon loved his family dearly and had beautiful and unique relationships with each of them that have left lasting memories.
As a child Jon helped with fieldwork & harvest on the family farm, and stated often that farming was in his blood & he wanted to carry on his father's and grandfathers’ tradition of caring for the soil. Jon began custom combining at the age of 15, which led to him starting his own custom combining business. He was returning home from another season in August 2019 when he was diagnosed with glioblastoma stage IV brain cancer. Jon fought hard these past 2 years, unfortunately cancer took him from this earth on September 21, 2021. Jon leaves behind the joy & blessing of his life, his 13-year-old daughter Mikaela, his wife Jennifer & her sons Johnny Fjestad Sr., & Jacob & Jaden Fjestad. Also, his mother, Sharon (William) Davis, sisters Kari (Dave) Pittenger, Merri (Jesse Hofstrand) Johnson; Lori (Rodney) Pederson; and brother J.R. (Amy) Johnson. Nieces & nephews Daerik, Drew, Joey & Jae Pittenger; Madison & Brodie Pederson; Bridger & Harper Johnson, his mother-in-law Kathleen La Batte, and many loving & caring aunts, uncles & cousins. Jon is preceded in death by his father Gary, and grandparents Mr & Mrs Reuben Johnson & Mr & Mrs Wendell Adams and uncle Gordon Adams, & cousin David Adams.
