On July 20, 1947, Joyce married Vincent (Bud) Lowe in Hoople. They made their home in Grafton, where she raised three sons, Jeff, John, and Mark. Later, she worked in the business office at the Life Skills and Transition Center for 24 years, retiring in 1988. They moved into assisted living at Leisure Estates in February 2012.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and active in WELCA and did volunteer work at the Lutheran Sunset Home. Joyce enjoyed the daily puzzle in the paper. She also enjoyed her afternoon coffee with her special friends at Leisure Estates. Her family enjoyed the stories that she would tell and how she could remember dates late into her life. She loved to visit with family and friends. Joyce kept up with the current news, reading the Grafton Record, Grand Forks Herald, and other magazines cover to cover. She loved her rides in the car, especially to Hoople. Joyce had quite the memory up until her health failed and she then moved into Sunset Home January 2021. Joyce really enjoyed her 100th birthday celebration November 2021 at the Grafton Armory with many friends and family in attendance.
