Kami was born in Devils Lake, ND on June 17, 1992. She lived in Fort Totten, ND her whole life where she attended and graduated from Four Winds High School in 2009. Shortly after, Kami welcomed her first baby girl into the world with her high school sweetheart Kolby McKay in November 2011.
Kami was so excited and so in love with Kaylynda and Kolby, her little family. A year later they welcomed baby Diane Rae McKay. She loved being a mother to her six babies. They were what got her through each and every day, even on her bad days she could turn everything around simply by talking about the day her babies were born and how they were so tiny, cute, and little versions of herself.
Kami enjoyed being nice and cozy at home although her favorite place in the world was at her Mom’s house. There was no place that can compare to her Mom’s house is what Kami would say. Her favorite day was every Tuesday when she and her Mom would go shopping. Just getting to spend a few hours with her Mom, it was their “alone time”. That is what Kami calls it.
Kami loved spending time with her boyfriend Jeffery DeMarce who she shared a home with. He was her hero, she would say. She also enjoyed every day, laughing, laying around, spending time with her best friend Louise Fox. They did just about everything together. They helped each other heal and kept each other happy. She loved her 3 big brothers and loved how much they loved and spoiled her. She was their world and never let her forget that. She was tough on her baby sister Vanessa, sometimes but she only wanted what was best and didn’t want her little sister to make any bad choices in life.
Kami had a big heart, helped anyone in need always saw the best in everyone. She loved to cook and feed everyone. Pickles and lemons were her favorite food, and her favorite color was purple. Each and every one of her nieces and nephews meant the world to her.
Kami will always be in our hearts and will be greatly missed by many.
