Karyn M. Waslaski was born on August 18, 1949 in Langdon, North Dakota, the daughter of the late John and Lavelda (Domres) Waslaski. Karyn spent her early years in Langdon and moved to Park River with her family at age seven. She attended Park River schools and graduated from the Walsh County Agriculture School in 1967. Karyn received her nursing degree from North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, then returned to Park River and began working for the Life Skills and Transition Center in Grafton for more than 45 years.
Karyn was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a volunteer for the Park River Ambulance Service for many years. Her love of family and children made her a remarkable, loving aunt, involved with and supporting her nieces and nephews and their families. Even to her friends and their children, she was an “honorary aunt”. It was her gift and her pride to leave a positive mark on the lives of those she loved by showering them with affection, enthusiastic encouragement, thoughtfulness, and her steadfast and fierce devotion, generosity, and caring. She loved traveling, camping, gift-giving and decorating, especially for the holidays. She will be dearly missed for her positive, light spirit and kindness by all who loved her.
Karyn is survived by her brothers: Duane (Jenny) Waslaski, Park River, ND, Kelly Waslaski, Park River, ND, nieces and nephews: Shane (Jill) Waslaski, Moorhead, MN, Kali (Bjorn) Flaten, Hoople, ND, Cody (Chelsey) Waslaski, Park River, ND, Katelyn (Dirk) Nielson, Fargo, ND, Kristopher Waslaski, Park River, ND and Tyler Waslaski, Park River, MD; great nieces and nephews: Maggie, Harrison, and Charlie Waslaski, Thor and Haaken Flaten, Callum, Ceeley, and Colter Waslaski, and one little great nephew on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery of Park River in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Park River Ambulance in Karyn's memory.
