Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday, October 16, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Reverend Mr. Jeff Vaagen will officiate.
Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Katherine will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Katherine Beck, daughter of Joseph and Johanna (Keller) Beck was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1935, in Devils Lake ND. She attended Lincoln Elementary School and St. Mary’s Academy. She also worked for Majestic Laundry and Cleaners.
Katherine, a beautiful young bride, was united in marriage to Joseph Eback on September 22, 1952. They lived for a brief time in Oberon but spent the rest of their lives in Devils Lake where they worked and raised their family of seven children.
Katherine was a devoted wife, loving, caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. This was her first priority. She also worked outside the home at several care centers in Dietary and Laundry. She worked for 18 years at Odd Fellows Home, 8 years at Lake Region Lutheran Home and 5 years at the Good Samaritan Care Center over 31 years of service to others.
Katherine reveled in getting together with family, spoiling her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and baking their favorite recipes. Katherine’s favorite time of year was Christmas. She loved the lights, decorations, music and baking all those family favorite Christmas goodies. She was an avid reader, doing word searches and crossword puzzles. She also did embroidery and shared her beautiful creations with family and friends.
Katherine loved her home, loved her family with her whole heart and trusted in the promises of her Lord.
Katherine’s family include her precious children Linda Eback, St. Paul MN, Sally (Chris) Erickson, Bismarck ND, Kathy (Butch) Zacher, Devils Lake, Joe (Nancy) Eback, Spokane, WA, Patty (Mark) Schwab, Devils Lake, Tim Eback also Devils Lake and Pam (Kevin) Swart, Herndon, KS; fifteen grandchildren Carrie Eback; Josh Erickson, Nathan Erickson, Jason (Rachael) Erickson and Jacob Erickson; Jodi (Mike) Stenhjam, Troy Zacher; Megan Eback and Cody Eback; Heather (Duane) Brandvold and Travis (Charlene) Schwab; Tyler Mercer, Corey (Kenna) Mercer, Jennie (Clay) Anderson and Brittany (Jamie) Adams; twenty-three and one on the way great grandchildren; sisters Doris Rardon and JoAnn (Dewey) Hahn both of Devils Lake; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Linda Beck, Helen Beck, Rudy Severinson, Benny Eback, Phyllis Eback, and John Zettler; many nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe on November 26, 2001, brothers Raymond Beck, twins James Beck, Gerald Beck and Casper Beck, sisters Phyllis Hawn and Dolores Severinson and in-laws George and Frances Eback.
Casket Bearers will be Katherine’s nephews Jamie Beck, Terry Eback, Jeremy Beck, Richard Rardon, Jordan Hahn, and Rich Eback. Honorary Bearers are Katherine’s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bringing up the Eucharistic Gifts will be Katherine’s Granddaughters and Reading Scripture will be Linda Eback.
