He was born on June 19, 1936 in Winkler, MB to Paul and Anne Schaak (nee Derksen). On June 3, 1959 he married the love of his life, Tina Banman and had 63+ years of marriage before his passing. Ken loved hunting ducks, geese, turkey, crane, and deer usually with his very good friend, Dr. Chandy Jacobs as well as some brothers-in-law and nephews at times. Accompanying them would be one of his black Labradors, he had six labs in total. He was a member of the Game and Fish Association and won several awards, prizes and many trophies. Ken was also known to talk to everyone he met, and sometimes shopping with him, mom and daughter would be patiently waiting for him to move on. He was also quite willing to share his faith with others.
He is survived by his wife, Tina, one daughter, Gwen Peters (Peter), three grandchildren, Kristin Wiebe (Matt), Marcie Peters and Ryan Peters; proud great grandfather of three great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, one brother-in-law and their families as well as eight half brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his parents, one teen brother, his sister and two half siblings.
Many thanks to BTHC for his care for the last two weeks of his life and to Dr Lane. He will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
