Linda was born on Sept. 29, 1947 in Kitchener, Ont., to Isaac and Antonia Friesen. She grew up in the Morden/Glencross area but left after graduation to get her nursing degree in Winnipeg. She spent much of her life serving others as a mother and nurse. A joy in her life was babysitting her grandchildren.
Linda loved to travel. Some of the family’s most memorable times were trips to Rushing River and the East and West coasts. She and Karen went on a bucket list trip to Europe in 2004. She also travelled to Israel in 2006, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Linda loved lighthouses and their symbolism - of light and help in the darkness. Her faith in God provided that for her.
Linda got her mother’s green thumb and enjoyed gardening. Her roses were her pride and joy. She liked music, reading, and could play games for hours. She was crafty and spent a lot of time at her sewing machine, making clothes, beach blankets, placemats and other gifts.
Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she loved everything about it - from baking to singing, games and gatherings. She had a fun sense of humour and had an infectious laugh.
Linda is survived by her husband, Dennis Zimmerman; sisters Edith Tutiah, Mary Klassen, Irma (Ed) Laurin, and brother John (Lena) Friesen. She leaves behind her children Karen (Merril) Pauls, Tracey (Jonah) O’Neil, Christie (Darren) Nickel, Michael (Carrie) Hiebert; grandchildren Alex, Liam, Payton (Tim), Spencer (Hayley), Carter (Carlene), Taylor (Madison), Colton (Ally); and great-grandchildren Addison and Rowan. She was predeceased by Neil Hiebert and her brother-in-law Ben Klassen.
