Lloyd was born on November 8, 1936 in Walsh County, ND to the late Gustav and Olga (Rundhaug) Monson. He attended rural country school. After his education, he began farming with his father and brothers. He loved the Red River Valley and farmed grains and potatoes his entire career.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Joyce Oak on November 4, 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hoople. They moved to their beloved farm and raised their children and many animals through the years. He was a true animal lover and enjoyed many hours of horseback riding with his family. He was a lifelong member of the former South Trinity Lutheran Church and longtime member of the Nash School Board. He instilled his love of nature, animals, and generosity to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to deer hunt and was an avid gun dealer and collector. Lloyd was loving and doating grandfather and great grandfather.
Lloyd will be dearly missed by his daughter Connie (Doug) Momerak, Grand Forks, ND; son Scott (Lori) Monson, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Bryce Momerak, Blaine (Amanda Hanson) Momerak, Brandi (Tommy) Lundeen, Luke Monson, Cassie Monson, and Drew Monson; and great grandchildren: LaMonte and Brielle. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce, granddaughter Ashley Momerak, and his siblings. Lloyd was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Blessed be his memory.
Memorial Services will be on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church of Rural Hoople, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at South Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the spring.
