Anyone who knew Lynn for just a few minutes, knew that he loved the Twins baseball team, and he loved counting semis. He also loved chicken drummies, tootsie rolls, channel 4 and sitting in his recliner. But of all the things he loved, he loved people the most. He had lots and lots of friends, and knew people from all over the area. He loved visiting on the phone and although getting a gift was fun, showing that gift to everyone he knew was even more fun. (Holy Cow!) It took very little to make Lynn happy and just being with Lynn could make a person feel lighter in heart. He will be missed beyond measure by those of us that knew and loved Lynn, but we are comforted in the fact that he is now pain-free, mentally whole and with the One who loved him first and most, his Heavenly Father.
Lynn had an incredible life in Adams riding his three-wheel bike and visiting with all his friends around town as he picked up cans or made his rounds. Lighting the candles at church on Sunday was his weekly highlight and eventually getting confirmed was a very special religious milestone! His family would like to express a sincere expression of gratitude to the community of Adams for their goodness and kindness to Lynn. That town made it possible for him to happily live alone for many, many years. After he moved, Lynn loved going back to visit Adams and all his friends there.
Lynn’s family would also like to say a huge thank you to all those at Friendship who took such wonderful interest in and care of Lynn. He always had someone to talk to there, and his family knew he was being well taken care of. Friendship’s hard-working staff really opened up Lynn’s world and gave him many opportunities to do activities, trips, and events he would never have had a chance to do. He enjoyed his trip to the Black Hills, helicopter ride, train ride, trips to the Twins Games, and all the times they just jumped in the van and went for a ride to see the lights, or local sports games.
The family also wishes to extend their deep gratefulness to First Care Health Center for their steadfast medical care through the years for Lynn and their expertise and comfort in his final hours.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his first cousins, Jerry (Jean) Borstad, Florence Garden, Arizona; and Millie Hagen, Park River. Lynn’s second cousin, Janet Johansen, (Edinburg), was his special caregiver. He also had other numerous beloved extended family members.
Lynn’s funeral will be Monday, March 13th, at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain Lutheran Church in Adams. Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
