Manny was born June 2, 1939 to the late Magnus Steinolfson and Adeline (Domstad) Steinolfson in Walhalla, North Dakota. He attended school in Mountain, graduating in the class of 1957 with one other student, Kenneth Halldorson. Whenever they got together, like the Deuce of August in Mountain, it was a class reunion.
Manny attended the University of North Dakota then joined the Army. Manny did his service to our country in Germany and stateside.
Manny was a Construction Project Manager for Knutson Construction Company overseeing all their projects in Wyoming. After the projects were completed, he moved back to Minnesota and was a Quality Control technician for a large plastic manufacturing firm. A medical condition caused him to retire, and he moved to Borg Memorial Home where he had many wonderful years.
Manny was a historian and voracious reader; hundreds of books were in his library and being added to every year. His meticulous note taking helped keep memories alive.
Manny is survived by siblings Steingrimur Steinolfson (Glenna), Curtis Steinolfson (Gloria), Louise Sigtryggsson, several nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. He was very devoted to his nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He would look forward to visits from his grand niece Charlie who visited him in Borg weekly from when she was 1 1/2 years old until 5 when Covid hit.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Orin Dean Steinolfson and sister Lavonne Cataldi.
Manny’s funeral will be at Vikur Church in Mountain, ND on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 2:00 PM with visitation for one hour prior to the service.
Memorials are preferred to Borg Memorial Home, Mountain, ND.
