Margaret M. Houser, age 98 of Park River, North Dakota passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River.
Margaret M. Pic was born April 10, 1925 on the family farm in Sauter Township, Walsh County, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Pesek) Pic. She attended rural school in Sauter Township. After her schooling she worked on the family farm and for the local neighbors. Margaret was united in marriage to Frank Houser on July 10, 1947 on the family farm. The couple made their home in Park River where they raised their family. She worked for the Park River Potato Company and Danny Larson. Frank passed away on October 15, 1998. Margaret continued to make her home in Park River until the time of her death.
She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Park River, North Dakota. She loved to be with her family and visit with people. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning, baking, taking yearly vacations with Frank and bus trips to the casino.
Margaret is survived by her son, Ronnie Houser, Aneta, North Dakota; grandsons: Kelly (Kathy) Houser, Park River, ND; Dion (Miyako) Carlson, Park River, ND; great grandchildren: Samantha, Brandon, Madison, Cordell, Trent and Shantel; sister-in-law, Angie Pic, Park River, ND. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, daughter Darlene (Cledith) Carlson; daughter-in-law Lynda Houser; grandchildren: Priscilla Carlson and Tracy Houser; two brothers and four sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Park River. Visitation will be on Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Park River, North Dakota.
