
Marilyn Kaye was born on September 6, 1952, in St. Paul, MN, the adopted daughter of Albert and Helen (Mathison) Sandbeck. She lived on a farm near Shelly, MN and then in East Grand Forks, MN, graduating from East Grand Forks High School with the class of 1970.
Marilyn married John Lasky in 1971 and they were the proud parents of daughter Stacy. Marilyn later married Don Palm.
Marilyn worked at Simplot in Grand Forks for over 30 years and also worked at Red River High School for a time. In 2012 she retired due to health issues and moved to Devils Lake, ND to be closer to family.
Marilyn was an avid reader and had an extensive collection of owls. For the past few years, she enjoyed the friendship and companionship of her friend, Richard Nelson. They enjoyed eating out, day trips around the area and attending family events. But first and foremost, Marilyn treasured her family as they were her pride and joy.
Marilyn’s loving family include her daughter Stacy and her husband Darin MacDonald of Devils Lake and granddaughter Beth MacDonald of Bottineau, ND; brother Marvin Sandbeck; sister-in-law Gail Sandbeck; nephew Adam (Carla) Sandbeck and niece Heather (Andrew) Loy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and special friend Richard Nelson.
Funeral Services for Marilyn will be on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Jim Paulson, Pastor at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, officiating.
