Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday November 6, 2023 at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden with interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1PM-8PM on Sunday at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden. Donations may be made to assist the family with expenses.
Mary Hiebert (nee Wall)
1950 ~ 2023
Mary Hiebert (nee Wall) married Henry Hiebert on August 15th, 2004, in Morden, Manitoba, Canada. Mary and her granddaughter Julie enjoyed living and being on a farmyard near Graysville, Manitoba with Mary's husband Henry. While living on this farmyard Mary was able to garden on a grander scale, mow lawns on a riding tractor, and got delight from driving around on her tractor Alice beside Henry on his tractor Oliver. Mary grew to enjoy watching wildlife wander through the farmyard property, began to enjoy bird watching, and simply enjoyed nature! Do not tell any one - but a wonderful favourite of hers was riding quads ( we will not mention racing adventures she had with her grandchildren on said quads, nor the fact that she would race vehicles while on her quad along the driveway towards the house ). Some of Mary's additional favourites were wandering the property and creek area with Julie and also giving her company a grand tour. Mary got much delight in celebrating special occasions with their six children and their families, entertaining family members, relatives and friends for birthdays and hosting wonderful barbeques. In 2017 Mary and Henry moved to Morden to enjoy semi-retirement together with Julie.
Mary has always had an unwavering determination and a strong tenacity to face the many challenges life threw her way! This willpower helped Mary overcome the many complex situations that were thrust into her life! This doggedness and single-mindedness also helped her achieve more constructive outcomes from the adventures that became a part of her unique and beautiful character. Mary worked hard to provide for her family. As a young mother she worked many jobs, at times working two, and sometimes even three jobs. While living in Morden, Manitoba she worked at Kelsey's Sewing Factory sewing a variety of different types of garments such as jeans, jackets and winter jackets. Mary enjoyed assisting the co-workers and her friends working with her. Throughout the years of working at the sewing factory, her experience at the factory allowed her the opportunity to be a co-worker who others look to for guidance and assistance in solving a variety of problems that came with the sewing adventures. Mary was know to often carry the different pattern pieces piled above her head height, with both arms fully loaded across the floor to the next station that needed the materials to continue the completion of the garment. Mary always worked hard to complete her own sewing jobs, help her co-workers and do any additional small projects that needed to be completed for that day. With Mary's unwavering determination and strong persistence she accomplished what was asked of her. One of Mary's pastimes during this season in life was crocheting. Mary crocheted beautiful dollies, table runners, and decorative hats. Mary also crocheted several large table clothes which she donated to silent auctions.
Mary's self-discipline and will-power gave her the courage and strength to returned and attend school to improve her education through the Adult Education Program in Morden / Winkler. She received her General Education Diploma through hard work and determination. After receiving her GED she had the opportunity to work at Gateway Resources as a Direct Support Staff Member, helping people with a variety of disabilities continue to be independent and thrive within their communities.
During their semi-retirement Mary began to work more on quilting, which gave her a wonderful feeling of accomplishment, diamond painting, relaxation colouring with gel pens and container gardening. During the warmer months Mary loved to enjoy the gazebo deck, sitting and listening to the birds sing and enjoying the community activity around the neighbourhood. Mary continued to build friendships with people in the neighbourhood and often prepared meals and treats for the neighbours who were lonely or for those who could not prepare meals for themselves easily. Mary also enjoyed assisting with child care for her grandchildren and enjoyed the activity these great-grandchildren brought to her day.
Mary is survived by her husband, Henry Hiebert, 4 children, 2 step hildren and their families. Mary is also survived by her 8 siblings, and their families and many of Henry's family. She was predeceased by the parents, 2 brothers in infancy, and two brother-in-laws.
