Merlin was born on November 18, 1963 in Drayton, ND, the son of the late Edward and Lorraine Narloch. He was raised on the family farm south of Drayton. He helped on the farm and had some hobbies including woodworking, shooting guns, tinkering with model airplanes and small gas engines.
He attended and graduated from Drayton Public School and the University of Minnesota Crookston. After college he worked for a few area farmers, at the Manvel Elevator and then moved to Arizona for work and his health. He worked for a computer plant and was also everyone’s “Handy Man.” While making Arizona his home, he married Cynthia Uphanhour. They were only married a short time and she passed away several years ago.
Merlin is survived by his brothers: Mark (Dawn), Mike (Susie) and sister Mary. He has 2 nieces: Sarah and Haily and a nephew, Cody Narloch. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, as well as several cousins, aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Calvary Cemetery of Park River. A video of the service will be uploaded to the Tollefson Funeral Home website following the service.
