Mya Marie DeMarrias was born on July 25, 2005, at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake ND. (Her cousin Clevelynn was born on the same day). She was a sweet, happy child with that special laugh that we all loved. Mya was raised in Fort Totten on the Spirit Lake Reservation. She lived with her family, her father Brent DeMarrias and Mother Tamara Whitetail, sister Shaylynn and four brothers Shawnathan, Marco, Kenyon and Kenroy. Mya grew up with her cousins Clevelynn, Chayanne, Sonny, Myrissa and Layla.
Mya attended Minnewaukan School from Kindergarten through the fifth grade then transferred to Four Winds to be with her cousins. Mya Marie began her high school career at Warwick School. She loved basketball from an incredibly young age, but she wasn’t really tall enough until the past two years when she now had some height, so she was so happy to be on the Warwick Basketball Team. Mya also loved to dance, listen to music, taking long walks and baking for her family, especially her Dad’s favorites.
Our hearts ache with such sadness. Our precious daughter and sister Mya Marie has begun her journey to the Spirit World, we will love forever and always, and she will be so greatly missed by all.
