Pamela was born in Winkler, Manitoba to loving parents, Victor and Olga Enns. Growing up, she lived in various towns and villages in Southern Manitoba as her father was a schoolteacher. As a child, Pam suffered with severe asthma which continued until her early adult life. She was mostly healed of this condition for most of her remaining life, except for short periods of breathing issues from allergy triggers.
Pamela met the love of her life (John Funk) in 1973 and they were married July 10, 1976. The couple moved to Williams Lake, BC that same year where John got a job as an aircraft mechanic. Pam worked for the department of Indian affairs as an office clerk, also as a dispatcher for the aerial water bombers at the B.C. Forestry Department and also as a ticketing agent for Pacific Western Airlines. Pam and John then briefly lived in the Inuvik NWT where John was employed as an aircraft maintenance engineer. They moved back to Manitoba in 1982, shortly after the birth of their first child, Matthew, as they felt it was important that their children would grow up knowing their grandparents. In 1983, they started the construction of a new home in Tinker Creek. In 1985 they welcomed their second son Joel and in 1989, their third son, Gideon. Pamela worked as a teacher's assistant at Mason School for several years. She got involved with a local pro-life group and became one of the 3 original founders of the Pembina Valley Crisis Centre, now known as the Pembina Valley Pregnancy Care Centre.
Pam remained active in counselling and mentored many needy youth and adults right until the very end. Her compassion for hurting souls cannot be rivalled. Even during her illness, She was acting as power of attorney for a Messianic Jewish brother, (Jeremiah) in Christ until his death and organized his Celebration of Life service in January of this year. Pam loved to travel. She had travelled from coast to coast within Canada and up into the Arctic. 10 trips to Hawaii, a trip to Israel, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia. She was looking forward to exploring more of North America in their newly converted sprinter van. She was so pleased to have made the inaugural trip with the van in 2022 in spite of her illness. She enjoyed the "Boon-docking" experience.
Pamela loved the Lord. She received Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of twelve and was baptized in the Winkler Bergthaler church at the age of 18 and at the age of 25 was filled with the Holy Spirit. At age 47, Pam had the opportunity to go to Israel and was baptized there in the Jordan River. She joined the end time hand maidens and was proud to qualify for her Ministers License. Pam has both supported and started a number of ministry organizations. Supported a young pastor in Pakistan with a goal to reach a million souls for Christ,
Established the Yeshua dance company. Involved in Reconciliation efforts with the first nations peoples of Canada. Recorded her first musical album "The Eagle and the Drum” to show Honour to God within the First Nations Culture. Pam took on an active role when it came to her convictions and became involved with organizations that mattered to her. She was a voice for "Parents involved in Education" and promoted education and alternatives for Halloween activities in the community. Pam also wrote 2 books that were very personal to her own life and convictions, “The House of Ebony" as well as a sequel book. Many of these activities fall under her ministry name "Sweet Spirit Ministries"
Pam read, recited and prayed the word of God, daily. She had read the entire Bible at least Seven times. Pam leaves a legacy of devotion, worship and prayer. She spoke of Heaven often and shared her excitement for all the things of heaven with her children and grandchildren. We know there was many things she was specifically looking forward to and while our grief is raw and big, we are happy that she is home now- healed, whole, and entering into her reward.
As all human beings, Pamela wasn't without her shortcomings, however her confession made up for that. She was a loving wife and mother and would do almost anything she could for those she loved. She did so much to comfort anyone who was hurting physically or emotionally. And who knows how many babies were saved and now are living and serving the Lord, today because of her efforts.
We love and Honour you Pamela for fighting the good fight. We have no doubt you will receive many heavenly crowns to lay at the feet of Jesus.
See you soon.
