Visitation will be at Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church, rural Tokio ND on Monday, August 1, 2022 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a time of prayer at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Tokio will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Monday from City Plaza, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 10:0 a.m. at Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church with burial in the Ross Cemetery. Military Honors accorded by the Spirit Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6547.
Peter John Ross, son of Peter J. Ross Sr. and Evelyn F. (Mazakahomni) Ross was born on June 29, 1951 at Fort Totten, ND. He grew up and attended school in the Woodlake area of the Spirit Lake Nation.
Peter entered the United States Navy on May 14, 1970 and proudly served his country. He as honorably discharged on December 15, 1970.
Peter worked various jobs in the area and enjoyed his spare time with family and friends.
Peter’s loving family who survive him are his children Darin Ross, Grand Forks, ND, Lynette Ross, Fort Kip, MT, Winona Ross, Sheyenne, ND, Keenan Ross, San Francisco, CA and granddaughter Malena Shields whom he raised; his mother Evelyn Ross; grandchildren Clarissa Nomee, Anthony Brown, Jocelyn Brown, Ethan Brown, Erin Brown and Jennifer Stiles; many great grandchildren; sisters Elaine Ross and Audrey Ross; brother Curtis Ross and adopted brother Tyrone Ross; several aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Peter was welcomed home to Heaven by his father Peter Ross Sr., brother Glenn Ross, grandparents James and Anna (Sipto) Mazakahomni.
Pallbearers will be Zack Dolan, Sky Sanchez, Anthony Brown, Ethan Brown, Calum Sherman, Darin Ross, Joe Sherman and Dominic DogSkin.
