Dad was born to Franz and Anna (nee Ketler) Loewen of Mexico on October 25, 1950. Dad grew up in Bluemenort, Mexico where he met the love of his life Anna Thiessen. They were baptized on the confession of their faith on May 26, 1969. They married on August 6, 1969. The first three years of their marriage they lived in the yard of Mom’s parents where Dad helped his father-in-law on the farm. They then moved to Quinta Lupita where Dad ran an apple orchard for 14 years. They were blessed with 6 children, 2 girls and 4 boys. In February 1986 they moved to Canada. They made their home in Plum Coulee and in 2002 they moved to Winkler where they reside to this day. Dad was always a hard worker and often worked long hours to provide for his family. Approximately eight years ago Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He underwent surgery and was very happy when he was told he was in remission. On October 26, 2020 he underwent hip replacement surgery which was very successful. Dad was so happy that he could now walk with next to no pain and could put on his own shoes. Dad and Mom spent countless hours watching their beloved purple martin birds. Dad took great pride in preparing their “apartment” as he liked to call it. They looked forward to them “coming home” every spring. Another of his favorite pastimes was fishing. Him and Mom spent many hours on the lake with a fishing rod in their hand and each other’s company. They has many joyful fishing trips with family and friends.
Dad had not be feeling well for the past few weeks but dad was never the type of man to complain or let anyone know how much pain he was in. On May 26, 2021 Dad woke up and had said to Mom that he had slept very well but his stomach had hurt. As he had walked around his pain got much worse and the ambulance was called and the paramedics came and took him to the hospital where he went to his Eternal Rest. The doctors told us he had suffered an internal aneurism. Dad lived to be 70 years, 7 months and 1 day. Dad had always said that when he went, he hoped he never suffered long and we are so thankful that God granted him this wish. Dad was a very private man but there was no doubt that he loved his wife and children dearly.
Dad was predeceased by his parents Franz and Anna Loewen and 1 nephew. He leaves behind his loving wife Anna of 51 years, 9 months and 20 days. Six children, Anna (Frank) Friesen, Frank (Helen) Loewen, Cornelius (Eva) Loewen, Pedro (Lisa) Loewen, Enrique (Tammy) Loewen, Sara (Steve) Berg. 14 grandchildren, 13 great Grandchildren, 6 Brothers, 4 sisters and their families.
We would like to thanks the Doctors and Staff at Boundary Trails Hospital, the staff at Wiebe Funeral Home and everyone who has brought food, flowers and calls of condolences.
