Richard was born in Fork Township, Marshall County, Minnesota on July 19, 1925, the son of the late Leon and Cecelia (Smith) Osowski. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural Fork School District #75. Richard served in the 10th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. Richard farmed all of his adult life until retiring in Grafton, North Dakota.
Richard is survived by his sister, Marlene (Owen) Graupe; brothers: Darryl (Jan) Osowski and Robert (Carol) Osowski, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his significant friend, Mary Johnson and her daughters: Dolores (Pete) Villanueva and Kathy (Gene) Demers. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Gertrude (Leonard) Jopp, Blanche (Raymond) Rocksvold, Helen (Wallace) Jenson and a baby sister; brothers: Francis (Bernice) Osowski, Edwin (Gail) Osowski and two baby brothers; nieces: Mary Jopp, Marietta Rocksvold and Mary Rocksvold, Mary Osowski; nephews: Roger Jopp and David Stenslie; sister-in-law, Bernice Osowski; brothers-in-law: Leonard Jopp, Raymond Rocksvold and Wallace Jenson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the St. Stephen’s Catholic Cemetery, Stephen, MN. Military Rites will be provided by the Stephen American Legion Post and the Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard. Facemasks are recommended.
