Richard William Schwab, 78, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021, at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital following a brief battle with cancer.
He was born February 6, 1943 in Devils Lake to Sebastian and Eva (Stach) Schwab. Richard attended grade school at St. Mary’s Academy and graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in 1962.
After high school Richard moved to California where he became a sales manager for a car dealership. While in California he married and had one daughter. Later he returned to Devils Lake and continued in sales. Richard served in the National Guard for 6 years and was honorably discharged.
Richard was wholeheartedly dedicated to St. Joseph Catholic Church his entire life. He was an amazing father, talented artist, active volunteer and was blessed with the Schwab sense of humor.
Richard is survived by his grateful daughter, Tanya Schwab-Kearney and husband, Scott, his only grandchild, Cambria Kearney all of San Clemente CA. His loving siblings, Dennis (Judy) Schwab of Devils Lake and Jeannie Scoggin of Rock Hill, SC, sister-in-law Dolores Schwab also of Devils Lake and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marvin, Herman and Allan and sisters-in-law Joyce Schwab and Yvonne Schwab.
Although sudden, he managed his illness with grace and strength knowing he was in God’s hands. In the end, he was surrounded by his loving caring family members.
