Robert Mackey was born September 25, 1943 to Raymond and Rose Mackey in Devils Lake ND. He lived with his family on the farm South of Hampden. Robert attended Hampden Public School graduating in 1963. Following graduation Robert went to school in Boise, ID. Robert worked as an Iron Worker and in construction in Boise also.
He retired to his farm and kept busy repairing things. He loved raising cattle, hogs, goats, turkeys, geese and chickens. He took pride in planting trees, something his Mom also enjoyed. He hunted in Labrador, Canada for caribou, and for moose and deer in North Dakota. Robert loved to go to auctions. Robert especially loved spending time with his son Tracey and was always interested in the activities and happenings of his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his son Tracey (Bonita) Crawford;3 grandchildren Tristen, Connor, and Paris Crawford; sisters Rosalie (Alfred) Ellingson, Rhonda Rostberg and sisters-in-law Bernice Mackey and Sue Mackey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rose Mackey, brothers Ralph Mackey and Ronald Mackey
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Dale Solberg officiating. Burial will be in the Storlie Cemetery rural Hampden following the funeral service with a time a fellowship to follow in Hampden.
