He was predeceased by his wife Margaret (nee Neumann), parents Bill and Mina, brothers John, Ross and Bill, sisters Elsie, Marj and Mae.
Rod is lovingly remembered by his sons Fred, John and his partner Angie, daughter Rose Marie, grandchildren Rodney, Tamara, Ryan and Evan, sister Irene Bourgeois and many nieces and nephews.
Rod was born in Roseisle in 1931. After working in and around the area he joined the Canadian Army. Rod was selected to the Signal Corp where he was trained in new information and technology.
After the Army, Rod held a few different jobs before hiring on at the University of Manitoba as a computer operator. He then moved on to so the same function at Manitoba Blue Cross for the remainder of his career. Once retired he never slowed down. After moving to Carman, he was custodian at the U of M agriculture building and then onto do the same job at his church. He was twice president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #18 in Carman. He drove for CancerCare for many years and became chairman of Riverview Legion Place. Rod was referred to as a “Very nice man” which we are sure he was very proud of.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Carman, MB. Interment will be held in the Roseisle Cemetery.
