Susie Ingaborg Belle was born to Olav and Edna (Reed) Belle on May 14, 1925, at Glentana, MT. The family moved from Montana to North Dakota when Susie was twelve. She attended school and graduated from Egeland High school in 1940.
At a Cando dance, she met Cyril G. Krom. She liked to tell of Cyril being attracted to the pink dress she wore. He asked and she said yes. On October 31, 1944 the couple were married in Churchs Ferry, ND. They farmed in the Cando area for a number of years and then moved to Devils Lake in 1955 for a job opportunity. They raised a family of six children. In keeping up with the kid’s hobbies, the couple got involved with motorcycling all over the United States and snowmobiling. Susie raced in the Powder Puff Derbies and even won a few.
In later years she turned to cards, SKIPPO being her favorite. She loved to get the grandkids in a game. Mom loved her family fiercely and that love was returned in the same way.
Susie is survived by her children Barbara Funston, Donald (Ellen) Krom, Kathy (Terry) Retterath, Rocky (Donna) Krom, Arlis Bredeson and Stacy Krom; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marie Berg and Ella Mae Belle. She was preceded in death by her parents O.H. Belle and Edna Mae Belle, her husband Cyril G. Krom, brothers Halmer Belle, John Melvin Belle, Kenneth Belle, sister Irene Billman, grandson Aaron Krom and sons-in-laws Ron Wolf and David Funston.
