Tammy Jo Kelly was born to Brian and Josephine Kelly on December 17, 1970 in Bagley, Minnesota. She graduated from Clearbrook High School in Clearbrook, Minnesota in 1990. After which, she attended college in Thief River Falls, Minnesota for cosmetology.
Tammy Kelly asked Jesus to be her Lord and Savior at Lake Bronson Baptist Bible Camp in 1985.
Tammy met Daniel Olson at Bethel Baptist Church in Park River, North Dakota at a youth rally in the fall of 1988. They dated for 2 years before getting married at First Baptist Church in Clearbrook, Minnesota on February 16, 1991.
They gave birth to Andrew James Olson on November 11, 1991. Moved to Billings, Montana and gave birth to Elizabeth Jane Olson on October 22, 1992.
Tammy and Daniel Olson moved back to North Dakota in 1994, and shortly after purchased their home in Edinburg, North Dakota.
Tammy and her sister Cindy Vargason ran 1,2 Tree Daycare from 2001-2008. Tammy then worked as the Office Manager at Park River Bible Camp from 2008-2016.
On September 18, 2013 Tammy was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Despite her fight against cancer, she continued to work at Park River Bible Camp for 3 more years until she retired in 2016. For 6 more years she fought the cancer with multiple treatments and surgeries. While other people may have allowed themselves to become bitter, she was constantly full of joy. She constantly attributed her joy to The Lord and firmly believed that “every day is a blessing!”, and whenever anyone asked how she was doing, she would respond with, “God is good!”.
On October 5th 2022, Tammy went from Daniel’s arms to the arms of Jesus at 7:10am.
Tammy happily shared her faith in Jesus Christ with anyone who asked how she was able to remain so cheerful. Tammy was a devoted Wife, Mother, Aunt, Sister, and Gram. Tammy enjoyed singing, sewing, crocheting, and spoiling her grandchildren every chance she got.
Tammy leaves behind her husband Daniel Olson, children Andrew (Sam) Olson and Elizabeth (Tyler) Needham. Grandchildren Julian Needham, Kaden Needham, Riley Olson, Sienna Olson, and Sophie Needham all of Edinburg, ND. Mother Josephine Kelly of Edinburg, ND. Brother Pete (Joyce) Kelly of Park River, ND. Sister Cindy (Chris) Vargason of Edinburg, ND and Sister Julie Bourque of Brooklyn Center, MN. Brothers-in-law Dennis (Amanda) Olson of Billings, MT. Sister-in-law Patty Olson of Edinburg, ND. John Olson of Edinburg, ND. Dave (DeeDee) Olson of Edinburg, ND. Brother-in-law Tim Olson of Mountain, ND. and Sister-in-law Deborah (Bob) Sollom, of Raleigh, NC. 21 Nieces and Nephews, 16 Grand Nieces and Nephews.
Tammy is preceded in death by her Father Brian Kelly, Brothers-in-law Carl Olson, Bill Olson, and sister-in-law Caroline Olson.
The family requests that you celebrate her life with them on October 15, 2022 at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Edinburg, North Dakota at 2:00pm. There will be a visitation on Friday October 14, 2022 from 5-7pm at Grace Free Lutheran Church.
